Organizations

Weippe is home to several dedicated community organizations that focus on preserving local history, promoting outdoor recreation, and supporting the town’s development. Here are the primary organizations operating in the area:

Economic & Civic Development

  • Weippe Development Corporation: A public charity focused providing housing units for low to moderate income families. There are eight elderly units and sixteen family units.
  • Clearwater County Economic Development: Works to foster a thriving business climate by facilitating proactive partnerships and leveraging available resources for the benefit of existing, start-ups and new businesses countywide.
  • Clearwater County Chamber of Commerce: While serving the broader county, the Chamber is heavily involved in promoting Weippe-specific events and businesses, acting as a primary resource for local tourism and economic networking.

Historical & Educational Organizations

  • Friends of the Weippe Library & Discovery Center: A 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to maintaining collections and educational displays that reflect the area’s unique history. They support the Weippe Discovery Center, which highlights the meeting of the Nez Perce and the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
  • Weippe Community Club: This long-standing service organization operates the Weippe Community Hall. Built in 1924, the hall is a central hub for local meetings and recreational events and was recently recognized for its historical significance by the Idaho State Historical Society.

Outdoor & Fraternal Organizations

  • 6C Ridgerunners ORV Club: An active motorized recreation group that organizes community trail rides, including the annual Allen Meyer Memorial Ride. They work to maintain backcountry access and promote safe off-road vehicle use in the Weippe and Pierce areas.
  • Clearwater Ridgerunners Snowmobile Club: Maintaining and grooming the scenic trails of Clearwater for safe, high-octane winter adventures and community riding.
  • Whitepine Rebekah Lodge #60: A local chapter of the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies (an affiliate of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows). This organization is focused on community service, charitable works, and fostering a spirit of fraternity.
